Below we highlight the percentage change in the third quarter of major equity market indices for 84 countries. As shown, 10 of the 84 were up in the third quarter, while 74 were down. Puerto Rico, Botswana and Vietnam were the only countries to gain more than 10%. Tunisia, Ghana, the Philippines, Slovakia, Turkey, Venezuela and Colombia were the other countries that managed positive returns. On the downside, the Ukraine led the way with a decline of 51.86%, followed closely by Russia at -47.39%. Relatively speaking, the US didn't do all that bad. While it was down 8.88% for the quarter, it ranked 21st out of 84 in terms of best performance.
