We heard a regular guest on CNBC mention this morning that no one is ever bullish on October 19th because of the negative connotations associated with the day. However, since Black Monday (10/19/87), the S&P 500 hasn't been down more than a percent on the day even once (although today isn't looking good). The index has averaged a gain of 63 bps versus an average gain of about 4 bps on all trading days since then. October 19th has been an up day 73% of the time since the '87 Crash. Clearly some people are bullish.
Update (3:09PM): Clearly some people are bearish today!
