While August brought more market jitters and concerns, major US indices were actually up for the month, with the Nasdaq rising the most at 2%. China was once again the top performer at 16.7%, head and shoulders above the rest of the countries we analyzed. Japan and Russia saw the biggest declines at -3.9% and -3.7% respectively.
Below we highlight the returns of the same indices since the 7/19 peak in US equity markets. As shown, even though the US has been the root of the problem, the three major US indices have not gotten hit as hard as other countries.
