The average stock in the S&P 100 (which represents the largest cap stocks in the US) is 13.8% below its 50-day moving average. Below we highlight the 25 stocks in the large-cap index that are the furthest below their 50-days. As shown, HIG is 65% below its 50-day MA, which is by far the most oversold in its history. Cigna ranks second at -47%, followed by Alcoa (-43%), Halliburton (-40%), and Baker Hughes (-39%).
Below we highlight historical 50-day moving average spread charts of the 10 most oversold stocks in the S&P 100. As shown, most of the stocks are as oversold as they have ever been, but many that have gotten down to these levels in the past have had nice snap-back rallies.
