Country Price to Earnings (P/E) Ratios

In a follow up to yesterday's Sector P/E Ratios post, below we highlight the current p/e ratios of the major indices of 19 countries.  As shown, Belgium's BEL 20 has the lowest p/e at 11.37, while China's Shanghai Composite has the highest at 39.82.  The p/e ratios of the three major US indices rank towards the bottom of the list, with the Nasdaq second to last at 38.86.  So while many are looking for the US to finally start outperforming other international indices, their valuations remain relatively high.
